I wish I could have found where I got this recipe from in order to give them a shout out, but I love this recipe for calorie free, sugar free, carb free taco seasoning. No fillers, just spices. I usually multiply this recipe by 8 to make a large amount at a time so I don’t have to make it as often (plus I make a LOT of tacos if you’ve been following my posts). Multiplying by 4 or 8 makes it easier since you don’t have to bust out your 1/4 tsp measuring device. I started using this recipe when I was on the keto diet after I found out that most packaged taco seasoning is loaded with carbs, sugars and fillers and it has carried over into my normal dieting habits because I love it so much. You can adjust any portion of this recipe to accommodate your specific tastes (the cayenne pepper is the one you will tinker with to adjust the spicy level).
- 1 Tbsp Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp ground Cumin
- 1/2 tsp ground Coriander
- 1/2 tsp Oregano
- 1/4 – 3/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper (adjust for how spicy you want it)
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder (can use fresh garlic if actively cooking meat)
- 1/4 tsp Onion Powder (can use fresh onion if actively cooking meat)
- 1 tsp Sea Salt (I use regular salt – optional if watching sodium)
- 1 tsp ground Black Pepper
I basically just dump all the ingredients into a Tupperware bowl and shake it up really well with the lid on. I use about 2 Tbsp per pound of meat when making my taco meat.
