I haven’t written much during this pandemic. Mostly because most of you are on a workout/diet hiatus or already have modified both of these things and don’t need me haha. I have two recent posts that give you an idea of how you can get good home workouts in and how to modify your lifestyle in order to not gain 50 pounds in this pandemic. Outside of that, I don’t want to overload people with information because they have enough on their plates right now.

I do want to continue to encourage people to reach out to me personally if you are having trouble with your diet or workouts while this pandemic still has us in it’s grasp. A few people have reached out and I have designed workout programs for them based on what kind of equipment they have and their tastes. I am doing this free of charge. I want you guys and girls to come out of this pandemic without having to go on The Biggest Loser.

I myself have gained a few pounds, but nothing that can’t be undone in the coming weeks. I tend to eat/cheat with increased stress and anxiety (and there is plenty of that to go around these days). I don’t quite have the “swell” I had when I was able to go to the gym, but I’m also not letting myself “get soft” either. I am not able to push around heavy weight because I don’t have any heavy weight to do so. I have been using my body weight and resistance bands to get my workouts in, but my diet has been fairly lackluster. One of the main reasons for that is I can’t seem to get my usual grocery haul from the stores these days with so many things being out of stock. With everything that is going on, I just don’t have the energy or creativity to come up with an alternative so I just grab that frozen pizza, or go support a local business and get some carry-out.

With the weather in Michigan FINALLY starting to warm up, I hope that some of these winter blues, stress and anxiety issues people are facing are lessened a bit. Being able to get outside will help a lot of people with poor motivation or those just sick of being inside. So go outside, get some vitamin D, get a good walk in.

On another note, once gyms do open back up (expected soon), you should still be VERY careful. Gyms are notorious for being one of the dirtiest places of all. Many studies have shown that there is more bacteria on the weights (and other surfaces in the gym) than on the average toilet seat. So IF you do go back to the gym soon, wash your hands, don’t touch your face, and sanitize any equipment you are using (including your water bottle if it’s not disposable). Also be sure to maintain physical distance from others in the gym. COVID-19 is still increasing in my area, but not at a super scary pace as of today.

Just remember, I am here for you! Feel free to reach out if you have questions or want my help, I am happy to do so (seriously…I totally nerd out on this stuff and enjoy doing it). Also, don’t be too hard on yourself. Even the most motivated people are having difficulties during this unprecedented time. So cut yourself some slack, try to get back into it, try to eat healthy the majority of the time (not 100% of the time) and try to get outside when the weather is good! Stay safe everyone!
